As usual, the Kwanzans are at least a couple of weeks behind the more famous and numerous Yoshinos. Like the others, they pretty much shut down through the cold weather, and there’s not a huge amount of movement since the last update.
But they are consistently showing green buds now, so they’re headed in the right direction. Warm weather over coming weeks will wake them up and they’ll start moving more rapidly through their development stages.
The most recent peak bloom forecast I’ve heard for the Kwanzans is April 10-13. I’ve reached out to the NPS to see if that still stands in light of the colder weather we’ve had and will update as necessary.
For now, here’s how they’re looking this morning.
