These are some of the beautiful photos of 2019's bloom of the cherry blossoms that were submitted by Cherry Blossom Watch readers. This is part 1--more to come.
A big thank you to those who have submitted photos of the 2019 cherry blossoms to share. Unlike some of the other blooms in the recent past, this year was quite drama free, without late snowstorms and destructive frosts. And with the bloom spanning two weekends–and consistently pleasant weather to boot–it has been a wonderful opportunity for visitors to see and photograph the spectacular display.
There have been a lot of photos submitted, and even after making some selections there are too many for a single post. So I’m breaking it up into a few installments. This is part 1–the others will come later this week.
Thanks again to all who have sent in their photos!
Stay tuned for part 2!
There has been an overwhelming response with several hundred photographers submitting their photos. Thank you to everyone who has already submitted photos for consideration. Submissions are now closed.
If you'd like to help support the care and upkeep of the cherry trees around the Tidal Basin, the Trust for The National Mall has launched an Endow a Cherry Tree Campaign. Donations go to the official Cherry Tree Endowment, which will give the National Park Service additional resources to fund the care, maintenance, and possible replacement of the cherry trees. You can find more information here.
The Trust is dedicated to marshaling private support for maintaining and improving the historic National Mall area. I'm not affiliated with the Trust--just an admirer of their efforts.
