DC Cherry Blossoms in 2021
It seems increasingly likely that DC will still be under COVID-19 restrictions in spring 2021 while the cherry blossoms are blooming. So it's shaping up to be a good year to follow along from afar from the safety and comfort of your home.
It’s cold and windy. We thought we were done with temperatures in the 20s and talk of windchill.
There’s not going to be much to see this weekend. The cherry blossoms are still slowly doing their thing but still have some cooking to do. It’s still going to be cool–although mostly not as cold as today–but at least there should be some sun around.
By way of comparison, the bottom was taken exactly one year ago today. By March 21, 2012, we were already one day after peak bloom. You can see more photos from last year here.

In a few weeks, these garden beds, which are right next to the Tidal Basin’s northeast corner, will be bursting with color. It’s the [Floral Library](https://cherryblossomwatch.com/floral-library/) and will have all sorts of colorful blooms. For now, only a few very early tulips are starting to push through.
Photographing Flowers
At this time of year, there are beautiful flowers to be had all over the place. Maybe in your backyard. Maybe in the local park.
These are ere are some of my favorite books that I've reviewed on taking photos of flowers:
- Timber Press OR
- Detrick, Alan L. (Author)
- Focal Press
- Davis, Harold (Author)
