The NPS judged that the Yoshino cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin reached peak bloom on March 23, 2023. They're now done for the year..
The cherry blossoms are well past their prime now and not looking nearly as fresh and full as they were in full bloom. But it’s still easy to find plenty of flowers out on individual trees. If you’re in the area and want to catch them, you won’t want to wait too much longer.
Saturday’s wild weather did have quite an impact, and after seeing the howling winds that went late into the night, it’s easy to understand why. Many trees have lost many or most of their flowers. But some of the trees that bloomed a little later have held up remarkably well, considering. Head to the stretch between the MLK Memorial and the Japanese Lantern for a number of trees that are still going quite strong.
Elsewhere, many of the trees are starting to leaf out. Warm temperatures over the next few days will speed that along. There might also be some thunderstorms later in the week.

Kwanzan Cherry Blossoms
The Kwanzan (or Kanzan) cherry blossoms are just starting to bloom. For now, there’s only a very small number of scattered flowers open, but warm temperatures over the next few days will bring many more out.
